A charity that brings the benefits of computer technology to adults and children with disabilities at home and at work. Formed by an amalgamation of The Computability Centre and the Foundation for Communication for the Disabled. It offers a programme of courses and seminars, an assessment service, an 0800 information and advice line and consultancy.

Action for Blind People

Action for M.E.

Alzheimers Society
The Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their carers and families.
Ann Craft Trust
The Ann Craft Trust is a UK based organisation working with staff in the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors to protect children and adults with learning disabilities from abuse.
Arthritis Care
Arthritis Care is the UK's largest voluntary organisation working with and for all people with arthritis from every section of the community. Its mission is to empower people to take control of their arthritis, their lives and their organisation. The site includes local contact groups.
Asian Peoples Disability Alliance
APDA, founded in 1988, continues to be successfully managed and run by Asian people with in depth knowledge and personal experience of disability and caring. It is a non-governmental community organization.

British Polio Fellowship
The British Polio Fellowship (BPF) is a registered charity with over 8000 members. It was one of the first organisations of disabled people and it has acted as a voice for people who have had polio for over half a century.
British Stammering Association (BSA)

Leonard Cheshire
Leonard Cheshire is a leading charity provider of care and support to people with disabilities, both in the UK and in more than 50 countries around the world. In the UK today Leonard Cheshire provides 140 services, supporting nearly 15,000 disabled people. Leonard Cheshire has links with a wide range of constituencies of disabled people and disability organisations. It is a founding member of the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG). It is also a member of the Disabilities Charities Consortium, the Disability Benefits Consortium and the National Community Care Alliance - all actively promoting rights for disabled people.

Multiple Sclerosis Society
The MS Society is the UK's largest charity for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the only UK charity focussing on all muscular dystrophies and allied disorders.
National Aids Trust
NAT is the UK's leading HIV and AIDS policy development and campaigning organisation. One of their key areas of work is HIV stigma and and discrimination. They produce materials on HIV discrimination in employment and in healthcare.
The National Autistic Society

The National Disabled Police Association is an organization open to all members of the Police family in the UK.
National Disabled Workers Group
The National Disabled Workers Group is a self-organised equalities group, part of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux. It provides an opportunity for networking, consultation, and training for disabled workers within the Citizens advice service.
National Tremor Foundation UK

Royal National College for the Blind
The Royal National College for the Blind are the largest college of Further Education for people with sight loss in the UK.
Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)
The Royal National Institute for Deaf People is Britain's leading charity working with deaf people. The site provides a range of information and links to related parts of the organisation such as Sound Advantage, which can advise on equipment, and has links to regional offices and groups. RNID also provides a consultancy service including an access audit.
Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB)
RNIB is the leading charity working for blind and partially sighted people throughout the UK, with over 60 different services to help people at all stages of their lives. The site has links to the VISAGE employers website, which has extensive information on employment issues including available technology and workplace integration. Also links to regional groups and organisations.
Royal Society for Mentally Handicapped Children and Adults (MENCAP)
Britain's leading charity working for and with people with learning disabilities and their families. MENCAP promotes training and recruitment of people with learning difficulties, and has a particular focus on supporting employees and employers through the PATHWAY scheme.
SCOPE
SCOPE exists to support people with cerebral palsy and their parents and carers and aims to offer people the tools needed to live independently.
SEDEC
The South East Disability Equality Council (SEDEC) is an initiative of Hampshire Coalition of Disabled People (HCODP) and Southampton Centre for Independent living (SCIL).

SENSE is the world's largest organisation working with and campaigning for deafblind people, their families and professionals who work with them. The site has links to regional services.

SITE

Skill promotes opportunities for young people and adults with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK. It also provides individual support to disabled people, their families/enablers or people working with disabled people by offering an information service by phone, minicom or letter, and by publishing books, booklets and information leaflets.
Speakability
Speakability is the national charity that works with people with aphasia. Around a quarter of a million people in the UK suffer from aphasia, also known as dysphasia, as a result of stroke, head injury or other neurological condition.
Spinal Injuries Association

Access to Work (AtW) provides practical advice and support to disabled people and their employers to help overcome work related obstacles resulting from disability. As well as giving advice and information to disabled people and employers, AtW pays a grant, through the Jobcentre Plus, towards any extra employment costs which result from disability.
AccessibleNet
AccessibleNet.org is an independent, online directory of links and resources about Web accessibility. Included are some of most popular, well-researched resources available in this field. Advice Guide
Adviceguide is packed with information and impartial advice about a wide range of subjects including the Disability Discrimination Act. The inaugural Paralympic World Cup will take place in Manchester from 12th - 15th May 2005. Over 350 atheletes from 49 countries have been invited to the games which will be the biggest elite level disability event outside the Paralympic Games.

A charity that brings the benefits of computer technology to adults and children with disabilities at home and at work. Formed by an amalgamation of The Computability Centre and the Foundation for Communication for the Disabled. It offers a programme of courses and seminars, an assessment service, an 0800 information and advice line and consultancy.
Abledata
USA site, run by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, that contains information about a wide range of assistive technology.
AccessibleNet
AccessibleNet.org is an independent, online directory of links and resources about Web accessibility. Included are some of most popular, well-researched resources available in this field. New resources are always welcome and those that are accepted will be added to the directory. The database is updated daily with news, resources, reviews or ratings.
Accessify Forum
A discussion forum for those interested in website accessibility; not just designers but also users.
British Computer Association of the Blind (BCAB)
BCAB is a self-help group of visually impaired computer professionals and users who can help visually impaired people to access and use information and communications technology.
Deafax
Deafax aims to improve the quality of deaf, deafblind, speech-impaired and hearing children and adults' lives by developing their communication skills, literacy and employability using technology and other methods.
Drake Music Project
The Drake Music Project is a UK-based, nationally represented, arts charity working with disabled people.
GAWDS
GAWDS is a vehicle for "legitimising" and promoting accessible web design, - and for providing a support mechanism individuals and organisations providing services and products related to accessible web design.
Ricability
Ricability is a national research charity that tests products and services. It publishes independent consumer reports for disabled people on: assistive technology, central heating controls, childcare products used by disabled parents, community alarms, digital tv, and motoring.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) accessibility site focuses on issues and developments relating to implementing accessibility on the Web for disabled people.
