Disability Organisations

The Office for Disability Issues works with and consults disabled people's organisations to ensure disabled people's needs are considered on a range of issues and policy developments

The Office for Disability Issues (ODI) believes that without close working relationships with disabled people's organisations our work would be uninformed and lacking credibility.

Equality 2025

The ODI works closely with Equality 2025, a group of disabled people set up to act connect disabled people with government.

Organisations of and for disabled people

The ODI and the Minister for Disabled People have meetings throughout the year with both the Organisations of Disabled People Group and the Disability Charities Consortium.

Senior members of the ODI meet with disabled people organisations during the year.

Consultations and projects

The ODI involves organisations of disabled people in consultations and disability projects.

For instance, working with disabled people's organisations was crucial in the UN adopting the International Convention on Disability and the UK's subsequent signing of the Convention. Organisations will play a key role in ratifying the Convention.

ODI Life Chances Indicator Set

In developing a series of indicators (ODI Life Chances Indicator Set) the ODI worked closely with disabled people's organisations and disabled people.

Independent Living

The ODI worked closely with disabled people's organisations and disabled people in developing the cross-government strategy for independent living.
